Bait Recipes and Ideas

Here is a good selection boilie recipes sent in by our visitors and friends. Not all of the recipes on this page require specialist ingredients that can be hard to find. I have included many recipes that can be made with every day household food so no matter where in the world you live you can make your own boiled baits.

The liver boilie mix

This is one of my own mixtures, the result of a lot of field testing. It has proved VERY effective

*10 oz Semolina
*2 oz Soya flour
*4 oz Liver (liquidised)
*1 tbs sp Garlic powder (not salt)
*3 tbs sp Clear honey
*4-6 lge Eggs
*Your own flavour,colour or enhancer

Method:

Liquidise the liver in an electric blender. Gently fold in the eggs, garlic powder and honey. You can add colouring, flavouring or enhancers at this point if required. Pour the mixture into a large mixing bowl. Mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and add to the liver mixture a little at a time until you have a stiff paste. Add more egg or semolina to get the right consistency. Roll the mix into balls and boil for 2-6 minutes (the longer they are boiled, the harder the baits will be).

Lay the baits out on old towels or paper and dry for a least 6 hrs.

Thanks to Mark Dunscombe for this recipe

*8 oz Fishmeal (ground trout pellet)
*8 oz Semolina
*5 Medium eggs

Method:

Very simple recipe but it does work!
Mix the fishmeal and semolina together then slowly add the beaten eggs. (you may not need all of the egg mixture). Mix until you have made a firm paste. Knead for 5-10 minutes until the paste has a smooth texture then roll into your preferred bait size. Boil for 2-3 minutes depending on size. Lay the boilies on a tea towel and leave to dry for at least 4-6 hours. Keep boilies in the freezer until a few hours before fishing.
